Forgive me if this sounds like a schizo post, but I've been doing some deep thinking about how and why women flirt. On the surface, the most simple explanation is that women flirt with men that they like. But this is not always the case. Plenty of women will act kind/flirt with men they feel are ugly and have no attraction to. Now the more eagle-eyed people on this forum will say that they do this so they can extract resources from it. This is obviously true but we should also dig a little deeper.
One of the main ways that women extract resources from men is through the promise of sex. This is a woman's biggest trump card in pretty much all social situations and can literally get her out of jail if need be. However, women back in previous eras, didn't want to sleep with every man to get every little thing she needed. It wouldn't make sense to blow a guy just to get a ham sandwich. Also, unlike today women were heavily stigmatized for being promiscuous so it would behoove we have a female to be careful with who she slept with. Another Factor you would have to consider is that a woman couldn't also be cold to the average man even if she found someone attractive since women had no power and no real way to obtain resources outside of United. So she couldn't only sleep with Chad and treat them as human and every other man and as subhuman. This is a very delicate predicament that the average woman would face, so they created this technique that we call flirting.
Basically you act polite and warm to a man and give them compliments. This gives the man a false hope that you might have sex with him and or just makes them feel good to get female attention. Thus making sad man in question. More willing to help said female.
