I hate driving in the city when someone on an ebike comes swerving in out of nowhere. Some people are completely oblivious and do not follow the rules of the road. I never thought I’d turn into a Jeremy Clarkson esque bike complainer, but some people really get on my nerves. I do like bike riding though so I’d be down to join the gang. There are a lot of cool trails in the Northeast and biking in a city can be fun if done properly

Another thing that's good are converted camper vans. We can travel around anywhere and always have a place to stay, then use the ebike for short commutes.

For $3000 (?) i got a 50cc 4 stroke gas friction drive recumbent that will do 30 mph and haul 70+#'s. Just add gas instead of waiting for a battery to recharge. It took ~> 3 years to pay for... But i can fix it myself.

Basically, i wish i could afford a silent mode bike! But alas. My distance is too far and my loads too large. I looked into it. The battery is the most expensive part. And for the range i would need 3 of them. Or... For 1/3 of a us gallon of gas ($1) i can ride without stopping.

Oh. I did my research 5+ yars ago... But still. I can find a local small engine mechanic to fix mine or try to do it myself if it died. My Honda engine is very popular and there's parts everywhere...

Too many other more important things to get. Like a new woodstove. A 100ah 12v battery (and wires, etc) for my solar system... All high dollar items.

I only ride my scootery thing to town once a week or less.

The battery has to be a LiFePo battery so i can get more than a decade out of it. I also need a deep freezer to convert to a refrigerator. That and a fan is all I'll power with that system. I'll have a smaller system for lights and shit. But the China syndrome is fucking with my plans. They make all the batteries!

I can probably repair my stove and get a few more yars out of it....

Yeah. The battle born is the best rated, but i was hoping the price dropped more. I know how to build one for less. From a kit. But it's still about 700 for the whole pile of stuff. Bms, cell kit and all that. No hurry. Who knows. If China collapses that will be the end of cheap electronics. So i might have to use crappy lead batteries. Or trade out of my irreplaceable solar panels for a lovely new bangstick or whatever. I have postapoc lighting covered... Aa flashlights. Lol.

It's no big deal really. Just a dream to get my electric covered before i buy some cheap land. But for the price i could probably just get the land first and forget about refrigeration...

I live rural. In a large trailer with a outhouse. Near a forest. Near cows. I use my landlords power via an extinction cord. I pay about 40+ a month to power my mini fridge and lights and fans. I also have access to a full size standard refrigerator thats outside, that i use for freezer and my large bags of fruit.

I can stop paying for electric if i provide my own. We often have blackouts due to being at the end of the power line system.

It's better than what I'm used to. I used to live in the woods in a tent before i moved here 10+ years ago. It's pretty cheap so that's how I'm able to buy a nice bike with my tiny neetbuxx.
