Speaking in multiple interviews and public posts, Durov has described sperm donation as a “social responsibility” amid what he says is a global decline in male fertility.

He has linked falling sperm counts to environmental factors such as pollution and plastics, and said he wanted to help address a shortage of what fertility clinics describe as "high-quality donor material."

Durov, 41, who founded Telegram in 2013, has claimed to have fathered more than 100 children through sperm donation, in addition to six children from three relationships. He has publicly stated that all his biological children will receive an equal share of his wealth, regardless of how they were conceived.
