UBI, stands for Universal basic income and is basically an allowance set forth by the government distributed to everyone in order to help you maintain life. In layman's terms, you get free money for nothing to live on.
Just imagine a world where your truly as free as humanly possible, never before has such a fundamental change of this magnitude happened for us. A world where each day you can decide if you want to move to anywhere, do anything all without having to worry about going to some job or maintaining a career. Where you have the ultimate peace of mind of not having to worry about food to eat or a place to sleep, all because your country did the right thing and has allowed it to be so. I mean isn't that their job, for the people by the people right?
I dream of the day UBI becomes a reality and we are no longer forced to slave away for the basic nessesities of life. For which it would be the ultimate societal milestone, one where it has advanced far enough to allow for the required components to come into play such as artificial intelligence, advanced robotics and general continued technological progress.
This isn't about being a lazy person that doesn't want to put forth effort into the current economic system, although admittedly that plays a role into my current views. But instead it all ultimately comes down to how free the human experience can actually be. Just imagine the amount of progress that could be made when no ones forced to maintain the image of financial success, allowing for each and every individual to truly pursue what ever it is they want, whenever they want, however they want. A world so rich in abundance it allows for anyone to truly be the master of their own lives, where Hunger, homeless, and monetary crimes are a thing of the past. I believe this long awaited milestone to be an inevitability if we are to continue making progress as a species. Especially if we ever hope to expand our reach to the stars and beyond, capitalism has served its purpose. But should now make way for the future, it's time has passed and it's evident how obsolete its become with the lowering standards of living within the last half a century. Yes, UBI will usher in a new era. One much better then anything we've ever had, indeed a new renaissance awaits.
Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is what this country was founded on and UBI is a natural extension of that. I believe that if your born here on earth that things such as the basic nessesities of life should be a human right for all and is the first step toward a globally unified world.
