Switch 2 being a hybrid console hurts it

Not success wise, but in terms of its capabilities. It's not a good handheld due to shit battery life, being too big, and input lag, and it's not a good console because input lag is even worse when you're not in handheld mode. (Although the same could be said for the switch.)

handheld should get more powerful having something that fit in your pocket or smaller then a console and can play your games is amazing and buying a good gaming laptop is too expensive

Exactly, and they'll never make sense now with most gamers going to 1440p+ resolutions now. Handheld screens can only be made so big, I think they're already too big for the most part. I can't imagine traveling around trying to play Steam Deck would be enjoyable, it's at best usable while laying down in bed.

Then there's phones which already have their own genre of simpler games with their predatory monetization, which I believe is what handhelds need to go.

the issue with the steam deck and likewise the switch 2 is that since you're not going to take them anywhere it's often just better to play on your tv or PC. Unless you adore laying down and playing games.

Nintendo should’ve just released it as a normal sized console and later released a handheld Switch 2 lite variant when the tech becomes older and more reliable and with somewhat longer battery life to be shoved into a smaller handheld frame.

That's a bad business strategy after seeing what a success Switch was and they know any handheld they produce will be a huge profit. A standalone Nintendo console could get poor sales, and most are unaware or don't care that docking their Switch gives horrible performance. Cyberpunk is reportedly selling well, lol consoomers.
