Last night I had a wild and very fucked up dream.

I was attending some kind of public event somewhere in Europe about survivors of gun violence. There was a middle-aged African woman from some African militant shithole, a young Arab man from a Middle Eastern militant shithole, and various others like former gang members and domestic/neighborhood violence victims etc. It looked like they were guest speakers at this event, and I was there under some pretense or another before the talking presentations went underway getting to know the guests and their stories a bit.

Then just before the main event started, I excused myself from the building. Soon after the whole place was shot up by terrorists going by the name, Laarsbaan Wolves. Apparently, I was the leader of this group and was there seeking potential recruits as influential figures in the public. I guess I didn't find who I was looking for.

From what little I had pieced together in the dream, they were politically and philosophically against both liberalism and democracy, at least in its current iterations in the Western global hemisphere. The group's main goal was to instill a form of government ruled by philosopher kings, as they believed that only they would be capable of ushering in a global Utopia.

I have no fucking idea what the attack was supposed to accomplish and woke up before learning more.

Crazy shit, mang.

Interesting dream, also interesting how you remember so much of it.

Brutal noreplypill

Bro, I'm grateful that I remember these kinds of dreams with such clarity and detail. Other nights I'll have multiple dreams and it'll all be a haze. On rare occasions, I'll have singular dreams such as this, which feel like visions into an alternate dimension or parallel universe.

If only dreams could be recorded.

I still remember a couple of foid related dreams i had. That's the closest any of us can get to intimacy without paying I think.

Honestly sounds based

You have seen a vision from the future

Perhaps it took place at the Laarsebaan street in Antwerpen. "Laarsbaan" can be interpreted as a Dutch compound.

interesting freudian insight
The first thing I did when I woke up was to try and find out what that word even means (still don't know), but yes, I saw that it's a street in Antwerp. I've never heard or seen that name before in my life. Very odd that the name would even be present in a dream, since that info is nowhere in my mind, so it's not like it was dug up from memory somewhere.

"Laars" is Dutch for boot, as in the footwear. "Baan" can mean a variety of things -- e.g., job, lane, orbit (of a planet or a projectile). Since guns seemingly featured prominently in your dream, I might also add that "schietbaan" means shooting range. "Laarsbaan" is not exactly a sensible compound tho.

Thanks for the explanation. Maybe it could loosely mean something like "grassroots movement." It could be, "boots moving like projectiles," or, "boots moving down a lane."

I still find it absolutely bizarre (and kind of terrifying) how I had no info or concept of the word before this.

I'm probably overanalyzing this, but "laarsbaan" could also be a compound of "laar" and "baan"; think laar's baan. "Laar" meaning glade. In the context of your dream, I like the interpretation of a shooting range in a glade. It would also nicely explain the wolves in "Laarsbaan Wolves".

interesting how things like that can happen yeah

Wolves of the glade? Has a nice ring to it.

:feelskek:

Truth be told, I'm not a leader of men. I have neither the characteristics nor the desire.
fair enough. I don't desire to lead either. Astrologically I do have a decent number of planets in Leo and Aquarius in my natal chart, so I should have some aptitude :feelshehe:

Astrology? :dafuckfeels:

WTF mang? How can you, of all people, be into that shit?

I'm naturally drawn to fringe stuff. Just to clarify though, "I'm a Capricorn and you're a Leo so we're ill-fated" is not proper astrology -- that's just balderdash. In fairness, my natal chart is pretty accurate on some fronts. I'm not a hardcore believer tho.

I suppose no amount of logical training can make one immune to strange beliefs. Just another part of the human condition.

Nothing's stranger than the human condition.

Besides, is precluding heavenly bodies influencing our being a priori really that logical, when our understanding of the world is fundamentally a posteriori and empirical?

I'm too sober to have this discussion right now. To be continued.

when our understanding of the world is fundamentally a posteriori and empirical?
I'd say our fundamental understanding of the world is, first and foremost, experiential. It's not knowledge in the strict sense, but it is how we would initially make sense of the world. All of it is filtered through our experience first.

ain't that basically what "a posteriori and empirical" boils down to? the Merriam-Webster literally lists empirical as a synonym for experiential
