They should go back to the era of like 6th and 7th gen where there was very low ram but graphics still looked good. The only reason a console would need 16 gigs is because devs cant optimize for shit. Graphics from ps3 and graphics now don't look LEAGUES different but the ps3 had abysmal ram im pretty sure about 256 mb and now we need consoles with 16 gig. why??

UE5 is garbage because of DLSS5 being backed in, afaik.
UE4 is actually good if used correctly. The problem even in its day was that most devs were not capable of using it properly, which is why you see so many UE4 games having these microstutters. They do not fully understand the workings of the UE4 engine, from what I have read.
Basically, stupid devs and or not enough time to get into it.

You are correct. Just look at Driver 1&2. A full open world driving game with pretty realistic driving physics, NPCs, traffic and the ability to leave the car even, on a system as weak as the PSOne is a sight to behold.
I suspect that nowadays it is a mixture of incompetent developers, much tighter time constraints and maybe even collusion with hardware manufacturers / chip manufacturers to force gamers to upgrade more often, thus spend more money, more often.

I recently started using a 12-core Xeon E5 V3 with 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3 in quad-channel. In multi-threaded applications and newer games, it's surprisingly powerful despite it's age and low IPC compared to Zen 2+ or Intel equivalent.
Good, that is if you can get DDR3 for a reasonable price.
