The plane's raw statistics aren't very impressive, but stealth jets are vastly sueprior to conventional jets. The extremely low RCS massively decrease enemy missiles range, meanwhile you can strike them everywhere. There are exercises done with stealth vs regular and stealth clubbed them hard.

S-400 is a good missile system, but it's outfought by stealth fighters if they perform SEAD missions; This isn't a matter of which country is better, it's simply that stealth technology is a game changer.

S-400 uses radar (like the aim-120)in the missile to detect planes. The problem is, with low RCS, the stealth planes pretty much blend into the clutter, making tracking at a decent range basically impossible; that is why countries are trying to develop stealth fighters (SU-57, J-20, and more)

That F-117 was shot down because the pilot kept flying the same route and opened the bomb bay.
