I (48F) have a son (18M).
My son has never had a girlfriend before. I keep asking him about the topic, but he says he’s just waiting for the right one. He won’t even ask out a girl. He claims he has too much anxiety for it, but it doesn’t sound to me like he really wants one. For me in my time it was uncommon to have been single all throughout high school. If he really wants something he usually will get it, but on this topic he’s slow on it.
My son isn’t the most masculine man. He’s not into sports, he’s very neat and clean, and he’s softer natured. When he was a child he had an era where he was sassy and snappy. When I mean snappy he was literally snapping. He was like 12. I was beginning to think he was gay, because that seemed to be the most possible option. I’ve asked him a couple times, but each time he’s denied.
We were having dinner and my son was talking about having a girlfriend. I told my son that he doesn’t have to pretend to be straight and it’s okay if he’s gay. My son snapped on me. He told me he’s “not fucking gay” and to stop pushing this shit on him. He got up from the table and walked away. My husband said I was an AH for kind of forcing it.
AITA?
Fucking brutal. He's a KHHV at 18 and his mama thinks he's gay.
