In 1998 a research paper was published about how adult child sex is harmless but it was statistically flawed and only included cherry-picked samples. It got censored by congress and condemned and debunked by researchers but NAMBLA defended it.

I do think that sex with teen girls only causes trauma because of society’s reaction to the age gap, but this research paper focused I think on young boys or something

For me it's simple, if you rape a kid, especially violently, and especially if they're very young, there will likely be trauma. Some other factors would be it coming from a close relative, the underage person simply not wanting it, and of course society's and the underage person's social circle's reactions to it. But believing that ANY contact will necessarily cause trauma, especially when it's non-cohercive, non-violent, from someone the person likes, is completely unreasonable.
