Because... these days houses in the UK are very highly insulated. They have mandatory ratings (EPC) that essentially mandate very good insulation, to an increasingly strict degree.

So in summer it's like being in a greenhouse. A/C is absolutely imperative if you have a hot summer, if you want to truly feel comfortable.

And yet... it's like many people in the UK want to not get it, be really hot, and then complain that they're hot.

Most of the particularly strict insulation laws in the UK came in over the last 15 years I think.

Climate has warmed no denying that but the 1800s was a little mini Ice age and we are pretty much below the medieval warming period. I won't say climate change is fake it's always changed and fluctuates even within hundreds of years but that's not man made.

That I have never denied. It's just that usually the same people who go on about climate change also believe that humans have an influence on it.

Well, based on what I've observed here in the cuckdom, it feels like the warm weather starts earlier, lasts longer, and temperature records seem to be getting broken, year upon year. Quite frankly, I don't give a shit as to what's causing it, my point is I dislike warm and sunny weather, hence why I'd happily hibernate through spring and summer, if it was possible.
