I know this is biased because I was young, but I would say SJWs were pretty much nonexistent until trump. I remember seeing LGBT flags a couple times but I didnt think much of it. it was not until after trump did people obsess over identifying with LGBT community and other social justice stuff. life pre-2016 was pretty fun and even leftists would make fun of hardcore faggots, feminists, and trannies back then since they were more focused on class and dismantling wall street. it was also common to include mildly racist jokes here and there without worrying about backlash. anyone remember the "The chinese kidnapped Judy!" line from Fred in FRED the movie? that joke would not land today

Ik there's events like gamergate, but to tell you the truth that was a small event that nobody cared about or took seriously. it just seemed like something confined to niche gaming communities
