Gen Z's discovering settling and dating people you think aren't your looksmatch in real time:feelshaha:. Sure, it only goes so far and we will still never be the Shreks in those relationships:feelsbadman:, but it's funny regardless.

And what is the reason for Shrekking? The most common explanation is that if you’ve suffered a lot of heartbreak, perhaps by dating “down” you will be more in charge and less likely to get hurt.

A theory that not only assumes that people fit on to a numerical scale of attractiveness, but also that a relationship is basically a power battle. Well, yeah. Duh! But I can offer an alternative – perhaps less toxic – reason for Shrekking.

If you wouldn’t mind. Perhaps gen Zs are beginning to look beyond filtered visual perfection, to something more genuine. Maybe even redefining what attractiveness means.
Yeah, sure:lul:.

Man, I think I've already mentioned this a few times, but I really hate not saving a video from some Youtuber, I dunno even if he was more blackpilled or redpilled, who went over a study which looked at the various theories of how people choose their partners, pointed out that the only two models that really work are people going for their looksmatches from the start and going for the best they see and gradually being forced down to their looksmatches through constant rejection by people out of their league, and then that study showed that the latter is a much better fit for what we see IRL than the former. Would be hilarious if Gen Z is really just discovering something scientists have knows for a while, and acting like it's some shocking new trend:feelskek:.

labeling their looksmatch as beneath them is just salt on the wound. imagine entering an relationship with an person, only to realize that they don't love you and only 'settled for you', its sick. the superiority complex is sick.

So "shrekking" is basically just narcissistic toilets who when they date their looksmatch they think they are settling.

Yeah, that's where the niceness of this falls apart. "I totally love you, but I'm more attractive than you and I settled for you:foidSoy:," yeah, totally a foundation for a solid relationship.

A good summary I'd say.

When it should be first choice. ACTUAL shrekking (dating below their looksmatch) is unthinkable to them.

Considering roasties love fantasizing about fucking monsters Shrek should be right up their alley.

What they fail to mention is that for every shrek there is an ogre fiona.:smonk::forcedsmile:
