It's almost 90% off on steam, is it worth it?

It's too fucking long, age of empires is long but civilization is too ridiculous. Matchs can last up for 6+ hours in some cases, and fast ones are considered 2-4 hours.

It's a game I've been playing off and on for about five years now, it's fun and the graphics are cool, however, it is an extremely hard game as far as historical strategy games are concerned especially with roaming barbarians mode turned on. It's something that is extremely difficult playing even for an extreme history nerd like myself. :feelsjuice:

If you enjoy real time strategy games, then sure, it's one of the best you will find

The gameplay was much better but you don't nearly get as many civilizations to play as you do under 6. Another thing about 6 that I like is that you can create your own custom one-player games and I prefer my games like this having no time or turn limit. Also with 6 you get random natural disasters which are fun. :feelsjuice:

I haven't tried the natural disasters but i just downloaded i might try it again. As with the civs i dont care as much because i just like to play as warmongers anyway :feelshmm:

That's not what I was expecting, but I wouldn't mind if it's fun and keeps my autism busy.

History is my worse subject. I was planning an making an anarchist government, I don't know if there were ever one of those in history. I'm going to watch some reviews and tutorials on it first to see if it's too hard for me.

I don't think I ever played one before, but I hope it's something I can get into. The sale ends in a few hours so I need to decide quick, for the next hour I'm going to watch tutorials to see if it's worth $30 for the Anthology edition, maybe it can give me an advantage online over those who only have the base game or with only a few DLCs.

In natural disasters, you got locust swarms, wild fires, sand storms, hurricanes, volcanoes, and snow blizzards. Also, in dark ages you have the real risk of revolution in your nation along with civil war where entire cities break off in rebellion. :feelsokman::yes:

No such thing as anarchist government in reality or Civilization VI. It's a fun game, I like toying with the gaming modes and playing as every civilization available. :feelsjuice::yes:

If you really want to see a nation go ancap you can do that in Stellaris and HOI4 (with mods)

Only if it comes with all the dlcs

I pre-ordered it at launch and the fuckers gave me ONE dlc

Very fun game though

The expansions sets can be a bit pricey, probably one of the most expensive strategy games in existence. :feelsjuice:

Key shops and Epic have it cheaper, but I suppose you already knew that.

Personally, I almost never touch DLC leaders and scenarios, IMO they're just cashgrabs targeting OCD people.
I didn't know about key shops before, I will have to make an account there. I ended up getting it on Epic because I had a $10 coupon I never used. Thank you for telling me about the new shop.

That's true, but I want to make the government as libertarian as possible. I got the anthology edition so I'll have lots of civilizations to play with after I free up some space on my PC. I like games that let you earn achievements and higher stats so I can ball on players online.

I just saw that Stellaris was discounted really low too. That's based you can do that in those games, but I'm worried if I use mods they'll ban me from playing online.

I hate it when I pay full price for a game and in a few months or years I see it at a fraction of the price with a bunch of extra content. This is why I stopped buying new games, or games not on sale.

For PC it's on STEAM. :feelsjuice:

Oh fuck, damn, I should've also warned you that the Epic version has problems with multiplayer and mods. Also Steam has an integrated mod workshop, with some mods being exclusive there.
If that is a dealbreaker you can do a refund, most people prefer Steam for a reason.

If they come from Steam itself, it's unlikely.

Oh no. That's even more reasons to go with Steam, Epic doesn't do time tracking, social profiles or achievements all that well.
Get a refund ASAP.

That sucks, it's 11 dollars more on steam for civilization 6, can you use the mods from steam online? I thought that would be cheating because I read that players who bought it on epic can play online against steam players, so it would be unfair if they have an advantage.

I was thinking of achievements built into the game, not the steam achievements, I didn't know people looked at those achievements on steam that much because I don't have any friends on steam.

The time tracking isn't something I think is necessary. Do you still think I should get a refund?

The game itself copies mods from the host each time so that everybody can play on same setups.

Relatable

I still like clearing games from the client side (i.e. Steam, Xbox, PSN) and not in-game. But yeah, it's not like anybody cares.

Probably not, I just thought that you had somebody to play with on Steam.
You can still get mods from Steam Workshop, but manually.

In your place I would pirate the game first to see what's up.

Maybe I can play with steam players so I can use the mods, I will have to research more on these steam mods and see if having them all the time is worth the extra cost.

I don't think anyone in history got a gf from having steam achievements saying he beat a lot of games. You have to be a speed runner or a pro gamer that posts videos of beating bosses with no damage to get recognition, or have one of the top scores in an in game leaderboard.

I can still play with steam players, but it's not that important for me if they can see my achievements in the game from steam. I have a bunch of other games on steam where they can see my achievements if they want.

Thank you very much for linking me how I can get the mods while not having it on steam. I only like to pirate non online games, because most the time you can't get the full game experience unless you have access to the online stuff, but I don't know how the online is on this game yet. I will try it and watch some videos about it, and if I don't like it I'll get a refund.

I got it for free lul

turn based shit just bores me to death

Some people can't get into them. My nephew doesn't like those kind of games either, and keeps trying to make me play GTA 5 instead because he like action games.

I came from RTS games (empire earth, c&c generals, empires dawn of the modern world, rise of nations) so I could never get into turn based. was too used to fast paced.

Oddly I like paradox games now (when they work)

I wish I was good at those because they seem more fun, but I have to stick with games that give me more time to think because my reflexes aren't that good in fps games, but I'm trying to build up that skill with platformers and trying to finish Doom eternal on easy mode.

my reflexes have definitely slowed down with time, I was an fps beast at 13 lol

my fav doom game was 3, remember maxxin it out in 2005, niggas would watch me play it on the school bus lol

I hope it's not a skill that deteriorates with time, because even when I was a teen I was bad at them. Maybe for you it's like muscle memory and you can get good again with practice.

pretty much. the eyes have to communicate the signal to the brain, then to the hand etc. to respond quickly at FPS. I could probably get good again with practice. got bored of FPS tho cause it's kinda all the same lol

That's what I think too, Doom eternal is not that different playing than the other dooms, it just looks nicer. The main reason I got it is because it has an online mode to motivate me to get better so I can beat people online, but even so I'm still worried I'll get bored of it.

I like the old doom games too. Blood was another good fps in the old style, came out in 97. If memory serves me correctly you are an oldcel like me lol. I will have to check out eternal

Yup, I'm 35. Older than you probably. Eternal was on sale for $22 with all the dlc, but it ended today on steam, maybe epic still has it on sale. Watch some videos on it first to see if you like it, but you probably will since you were good at doom 3.

damn I'm 32 lol, we are probably in the top 10% age on here. I will watch a few youtube vids on eternal and maybe fire up the ole torrent client :feelsohh: gotta pause my eth mining to game tho, will lose like $2 lol

I pirate them even when given outrageous discounts like those :feelshaha:

Yes, we're some old niggas, but at least we got to experience the 90s before the internet and cell phones. You can probably play eternal on one of your weaker gpus, I don't think it needs a lot of power, I play on a 5700xt but it can play on less than that. I need to get into mining because I have 3 rtx 3600's and never opened them yet because I want to burgler proof the garage first. I don't want to put them in the house because my mom cooks smoky food every day and they can stop working well if I don't clean them regularly.

I just got done a few minutes ago playing my daily dose of four hours as Celtic Gaul single player against the A.I. I live and breathe Sid Meier's Civilization games. :feelzez::hax::yes:

im trying to play it again right now. Started from ancient era with matthias corvinus. Gonna try and ally with eleanor of aquitaine :feelsmage:
Playing as Hungary is cool, that is if you can survive the ancient era all the way to the medieval and renaissance era. Which Eleanor, France or England? :feelsjuice:

I just downloaded it, I'm watching a beginners guide so I can have a better idea what to do, but I'm very excited to start this game.

@Robtical stellaris mogs
Damn, I had a chance to get it for 75% off earlier today. I guess I'll have to wait for the next sale.

My favorite civ plays are the Mayans, Scots, Sumerians, Babylonians, Japanese, Cree, Egyptians, Romans, Celtic Gaul, Greeks, and Vikings. Try as the Mayans starting out playing the first time, probably a good one starting out learning how to play. :feelsjuice: :yes::yes:

Thanks for the tip bro. I'm from Egypt so I'll have fun playing it, but I'll try Mayans first if you think it will be better.
it’s a very fun game, definitely recommend if you are familiar with paradox’s other games
I put it on my wishlist. While I was researching i found out there's another similar game called endless space 2, and I put it on my wishlist as well to be ready for when it goes on sale again.

200 dollars? Whats it like? :dafuckfeels:

Both are good choices for beginners. :feelsjuice:

I still didn't play, I'm going to in a few minutes when I finish playing doom eternal. Thank God I didn't pay that much.

france.
and so far im dominating those dirty canadian and mongols and mogging the netherlands to mars and back. Eleanors heart will be mine even if i have to take it by force. :feelscomfy:
