When I took my test I was young and ignorant. You are correct in not sending your genetic information to them. Sometimes I regret it too. It is interesting to see a genetic breakdown of your ancestral components though. Good cope.

My friend from serbia did not trust companies too. He found an independent company and through them did get a genetic breakdown. There are independent firms if you truly want to do get a analysis. I was clueless and did mine with ancestry.com.

I'd refrain from handing over such intimate data about yourself to these corporations who then sell it all kinds of other people (insurance companies, genetics researchers - including governments testing for targeted DNA weapons - etc.) for profit.
I want to take one too but I don't see it happening anytime soon. I'll definitely be a big portion Philippine but I'm expecting around 6% Japanese because according to my father's side of the family, my great great grandmother was a Japanese woman who migrated from Japan to the Philippines. When I thought about it, it made sense why I related so much with the Japanese.
