in my country (Italy), the females/males ratio is high because life expectancy is very high and women live longer then men.
so there are more old women than old men and this thing changes the ratio.

Basically, there is no place where actual fertile females outnumber the men. The only reason you see these "more female to male" ratios is because women are longer lived. So there are a bunch of grandmas that skew the results.

Do similar studies on gender ratios with only fertile female to male numbers and it would be a totally different story.

Women outnumbering men is absolutely not a problem in a natural, growing society. Why? Because women tend to marry men who are older than themselves, and in a country where the population is growing, there are more women in the younger generation than there are men in the older generation. I calculated a while back that if the population is growing at 1 or 2 percent per year (which is a normal rate of growth for a country), then women have to marry men 2 or 3 years older than themselves for the gender ratios to be balanced. If women marry men 6 older than themselves, the required population growth would be even less. Only when the population stops growing completely does women outnumbering men become a problem. Even then, hypergamy is a much bigger problem.

When the sex ratio is unbalanced, it's always more males than females due to abortion of females.

The only exception is after a big war. Hence why Russia has this reputation of having more women than men. It actually only applies to the generations of WW2. Young people in Russia right now have a perfectly equal sex ratio.

The "Russia sex ratio" canard, like the "just go to Thailand" canard, is one of these outdated things still being repeated by clueless dudes three decades after they're over. No one bothers to check the facts.

A slight difference in sex ratio won't improve your chances by much, though.
