It depends on the individual. A lower testosterone man might have less of a physical need but more of a mental one, while average to high testosterone men will have heavy physical cravings as well. The sad part is that women have a significantly lower physical need for sex for a variety of reasons, which in turn leads to them projecting vague concepts onto the best partner they can find.
