For context, I am a first generation Filipino American woman. Today, a distant family member of my partner asked me what my nationality is. I told him. He then turned to his adult son and said “see?! We gotta get to the Philippines and find ladies there!” and continued to ask me if I had any other “young Filipino lady friends” I could introduce him to to date. I feel incredibly violated by this interaction. It felt like he was just telling me how much he’d love to have sex with me or anyone who looks like me.
