Saw this impoverished family through a window

Yesterday I was walking through a poor part of town and in some narrow through a window I saw this poor family like from some Depression-era photo. The woman (young, pretty slim) was cooking something on like a wood burning stove?, and the guy (husband or whatever, young, her age) was playing with their kid. The place they lived in was a shack with bare peeling walls, on ground level with windows looking out into the street and I guess they forgot to pull the curtains.
The woman could probably have a millionaire betabux boyfriend if she wanted, but she chose family life with this guy in this hovel.
Then I walked past a bus stop during rush hour and counted good looking women waiting for the bus.
I'm beginning to think that the whole "women are gold diggers" meme exists just to make men work harder. Having money is great and prevents a lot of stress and misery, but not having money is not an excuse for not being able to attract women.

I'm in a Slavic country. My entire life I've been earning at least 2x the average salary. No women give a shit and I see them all the time in situations they wouldn't need to be in if they wanted a well off boyfriend.
The thing with gold diggers is guys see rich guys always having beautiful women and they make conclusions based on that. The only conclusion you can make from that is there are more gold diggers than rich guys, which isn't saying much.

I meant I've always been earning at least 2x the average salary wherever I lived (and I lived in NYC and London among other places), in the sense that I was always a betabuxxing candidate financially.
