Lost or stolen cards are tracked in the UK. All she had to do would walk into branch and they'd have it on lockdown, nulling instore or internet orders. Payments are immediate but if legitimate websites they have anti-theft (Ebay is one when some cunt tried hacking my card).

Any "contactless payments" can be traced to a store who'd hand over CCTV footage of you, so going to jail or 150 hours of unpaid work over a £3 Starbucks.
