I've been playing the game Metro exodus recently and it depicts life 20 years after nuclear war and i get its fiction but the point im making is with the blast yield, the number of warheads, and the unhinged parties involved, its almost like assured mutual destruction. That is true, it makes little difference in the war in military terms. Its just a psychological blow, and it adds to the evidence that Russia doesn't have modern military tech, eg.. systems that can stop anti-ship missiles well.
The Ukrainians according to some media, are claiming that they were aware the Russian ships anti-missile defense could only face one target at a time. So when the ship was relatively close to shore they sent 2 drones, and 2 of their powerful Neptune anti-ship missiles to be there at the same time, with the drones arriving before the anti-ship missiles.
I had wondered if that was possible years back to send a bunch of missiles together, with Iran have a shit load of anti-ship missiles on its coast, and also lots of small boats with anti-ship missiles on them, but the US ships having good anti-missile defenses.

Reality was given their military having so little modern equipment.. if Ukraine was going to join the EU and NATO there wasn't a lot they could do. And a possibility that made them go into crisis I was thinking about is what if the separatist provinces were going to fall to the Ukrainians even with heavy duty Russian support of everything except outright the Russian army.
Thing is the pragmatic, wise mind, imo says ok then we have lost Ukraine and that does weaken our position a lot. But its not like NATO was going to invade Russia anytime soon in that case.

There is a factor I've been thinking about.. Ukraine and Russia if they do go down, they will then be inside the walls of the Empire. Sort of like 'freedom front' of Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary being in the EU. The EU is lucky to have them because they fight to keep freedoms in the EU, at minimum the EU has to moderate from its extreme ideas.
