I guarantee you that redditors dog barks for hours on end everyday and ruined the sleep of his neighbors sleep everyday and they finally had enough so it came to this. Maybe they just don't notice how often their dogs bark. Some people are just completely unbothered by constant noise, like in countries like india where there's constant horn honking 24/7 because every driver honks their horn literally every 10 seconds. Some people could sleep through world war 3. I also think a lot of dog owners don't notice their own dogs barking or are unbothered by it like some people who smell bad are unbothered by their own body odor. But more than likely they're just straight up lying when they say their dogs bark "once or twice a day".
Having neighbors with dogs that bark constantly is especially horrible if you live in an apartment like I do because there's potentially way less space in between you and your neighbors dog. The last apartment I lived in was hell on earth. This one isn't as bad, but I still have one neighbor with a pitbull that barks a lot. I've looked into apartments that don't allow dogs (or pets in general) and there are absolutely none that are anywhere near my job. Most apartments are "dog friendly" because the main demographic that rents apartments are zoomers and millennials (because they'll never be able to afford to buy a house) and most of them absolutely worship dogs.
I have an extremely stressful job, and years of working in this industry has given me a higher base cortisol level and hypervigilance. I'm a light sleeper too, so I hear a loud noise, I wake up and am fully alert and can't get back to sleep. So I end up having to go to work in a sleep deprived state, which makes everything that much worse.
And if you confront your neighbor about their dogs, you'll just make an enemy. Even if you're very cordial and soft in your tone, dog owners will get defensive and end up hating you with every fiber of their being.
