In 2022 Ukraine was expected to be destined to fall, by and large people were scared of Russian military power, and before the opinion on the previous points started changing, Ukrainians managed to stabilize the situation pretty well. It's different now that Russians are mostly seen as a paper tiger and so much money and prestige was spent to prop up Ukraine, to the point that letting it fall is just not an option for NATO, even if it means dozens of thousands suspiciously non-Ukrainian looking "Ukrainian" soldiers appearing on the frontline out of nowhere.

Maybe, but the same could've also been said about Russians and Ukrainians themselves just days before the war, and yet, when the leaders gave their orders, their soldiers just marched to fight. And I'm not even talking about attacking Russia itself, more like sending pretend "volunteers", "contractors" and whatnot to stabilize the frontline if it starts breaking apart.
It could be that NATO is just going to admit defeat and cut off its losses in Ukraine even after all the resources they poured into it, but if I had to bet my life here, it wouldn't be on that option.
Well, it seems like they keep hoping that Putler's regime will just collapse tomorrow for no reason, or that it will collapse if the west uses its clever maneuver a few more times - where it fires some of its enlisted soldiers and then sends them to Ukraine as "mercenaries" - as if they haven't already tried it enough times.
