A relatively fast paced and small scale game about Trench raiding. The teams are divided in Attackers and Defenders. The attackers have to capture the trench by holding different points in the map, while the defenders have to eliminate the attackers.

Both teams use different types of weapons. The attackers use shortened bolt-action rifles, shotguns, flamethrowers and early SMGs, while the defenders use Light Machine Guns and scoped bolt action rifles. The defenders can also place defensive structures and traps for the attackers

Do you think a game like this could work?

Trying to simulate your game in my head right now

Sounds interesting, kind of like in real life where there would be just human waves of soldiers running into certain death in no mans land. It’s a cool premise but I think it would get kind of repetitive

Maybe one where defenders have less lives than attackers

My idea is that the attackers would have better weapons than the defenders to balance things out. Shotguns were pretty OP in WW1

I would say the fun would depend on how straightforward of a defensive position the defenders could take. There should be ways to flank and whatnot otherwise it would just be a zerg rush

It feels very asymetrical especially considering the defenders only have scoped sniper rifles and LMGs.
I'd think it'd be better to give say the defenders, heavy machine gun emplacements and artillery if the attackers are going to have that much at their disposal.

This is world war 1 we are talking about when people tried to outflank eachother it just made more trenches which stretched all the way down country borders.

They also have other weapons, those are just the weapons that are unique to them. They can use regular rifles and revolvers too as an example

Mhm relatively though both sides will have the same weaponry, unless you want chemical warfare into the mix but I'm assuming you're going for like what 1915?

Sounds like verdun idk i haven't ever played the game

Well for Italian you have Isonzo, and western there's a bunch (beyond the wire)(Battlefield).
I'm aware :feelshaha: But those games are pretty large scale and not fast paced at all. Battlefield 1 is basically a WW2 game with a WW1 skin btw

True but it sounds like the OP wants to make a fast paced, arcadey type of game. It may be unrealistic but the gameplay would be more enjoyable

well if you're aware of a little thing called roblox there's a lot of WW1 shit on there (but I mean nobody cares about shitty lego graphics)

Idk man WW1 is just overrated imo

That's correct. Should still be relatively historically accurate though

Idk you can make it, if you do you can add it to your coding resume or if you make it good you may get cash from the game directly.

Like uniforms, regiments or battles?
Yes, also the weapons, so to avoid a Bf1 situation where everyone runs around hip firing prototypes and interwar guns

Yeah, I get that you won't have like the Pedersen device or whatever wacky dacky weaponry they made which was in such small quanities it made literally no difference.
