Been applying jobs for long, as a 1 YOE java programmer.

The problem? I actually ran out of jobs to apply if you dont count the "minimum 3 years experience" ones which I have no chance. They're not hiring fresh grads and junior developers. They're hiring gray haired seniors.

At the same time, I won't work at retail either, since the experience gained means nothing for being a developer and I am too autistic to handle chimping out customers without melting down myself anyway.

Anyway the job market is shit.

You never know how desperate they are, and those job postings are wishlists. You might find a place that wants to fire the old guy because he wants too much pay and is getting jaded.

Fuck, I'm finding it brootal with 14 years xp (albeit I have high salary expectations). I cannot even imagine what it's like for a junior, in an age where AI is the same standard as the average junior dev. Best I can think, is get really good at leetcode (for interviews) and try for a low salary job to get initial experience. It's best you can do in this industry, unless you're black then you can DEImaxx.

Fuck, thank god I was born in 88 and not 98. I'd be poor as well as subhuman if that was the case. Almost 100% of my net worth was made in the last 10 years, which bar today's situation and a small blimp just after COVID had a really good STEM job market.
