Do take pleasure in giving warnings and banning offenders on here?

Or do you sometimes feel heartbroken when you have to give a user you like a warning or even ban?

I can only imagine it be like killing a brother when you must ban a user you like

how do you cope?

I feel pretty neutral about it, someone has to do it to keep the site functional

The purpose of modding, to me, is to encourage users to constructively contribute to the forum - to improve the quality of their posting. I try not to ban unless needed as it reduces the number of active members.

The process is similar to an employee performance review. We want the employee to improve, because hiring a new employee is expensive. But some people just choose not to, for whatever reason, and will wind up fired eventually
