Have any of you played it? What do you think?
It's my favorite game of all time

I wish ID software would do further single-player installments in the series, and Quake Champions was a boring hero shooter so it did not count.

It is also one of my favorite games of all time, as I like both the monsters and atmosphere. My favorite levels in the game are actually the base levels at the start of each episode as while they are "high-tech" looking, they are also grimy and rusted out places only populated by surgically-lobotomized grunts and enforcers. Somehow, the base levels of Quake 1 are more interesting-looking and ominous than those of the Strogg from Quake II and IV.

One of my favorite mods/map packs for Quake I is Alkaline and I use the Ironwail engine.

it's an excellent first person shooter and you can tell very easily that the combat is more fun than in other games like Half-Life or Unreal. those games have other advantages but the moment to moment fun is just more intense in Quake.

some of the custom content made for it lately is created by trannies. but this is fine, the original campaign is very good and long enough, and there's many custom maps you can play that aren't trannied out.

i wonder if that fucker Romero will eventually make a Sigil for Quake or not

it would probably be the closest you would ever get to another official Quake expansion or sequel

At this point, I do not give a damn as long as there is not troon shit in the mod or game itself.

Best video game soundtrack of all time. Trent Reznorstein did a great job + Improved Classic doom in almost all aspects

great game tho i was more partial to 2 and especially 3

put many hours into Arerna and used to make a lot of mods too

I was a beast with Q3Radiant

It's true that the OG has faster paced combat & more solid shooting than both of those titles, but the latter is definitely superior to the second installment of Quake. There are so many bullet sponges & obnoxious hitscanners in that game, that when Unreal came out with balanced enemies & smarter AI, it quickly became irrelevant.

i always wanted to mod that game and make a singleplayer campaign for it but never got around to it. somehow no one else did either.

quake 2 does have some weaknesses but it is still pretty underrated in retrospect.
one interesting thing you'll find if you play carefully is how you can avoid taking damage from some hitscanners and they are not as bullshit as you might think. for instance the guy with the grenade launcher and machinegun can't hit you if you keep moving while he's shooting.

Those enemies are quite fair in regards to their attack patterns though, as a super shotgun blast at close range should be able to stun them while they are telegraphing. Same deal with how you can evade the Gladiator's rail gun blast by circle strafing from a distance.

But the ones that instantly come to mind as being some of the biggest pains in the ass are the Laser Guards from the Quake 2 official expansions.

Which of the quake 2 guards are your favorite v0 oijptzupmocf1

The DLCs from where they appear always position these little bastards in groups so you had to deal with multiple threats at once. And I shit you not when I tell you that when I had to go through them, it didn't matter how seemingly far away I was at the moment. They would HIT DEAD ON THE MARK, EVERY SINGLE TIME, with pinpoint accuracy!
