A few years ago there was a messenger in the Play Store where you didnt need a phone number or an email, all you needed was your password and username and the messenger also had some very good, optional security measurements. I havent been able to find the app since years nows, looks like it got taken down
Always assume that the government can tap up your phone any time they want. Most secure way to relay an message is through paper but it’s an hassle

What is your evidence for what you said? I’m genuinely curious because from what I last remember, it was their vpn which was bad, while their email was meant to be brilliant.
yeah just use Tempmail in all honesty or host it yourself if you don't trust any other provider.
truly selfhosted email is a nightmare to maintain and even do nowadays. almost always using someone elses servers
yeah, i've used proton for a while they aren't that bad and they're a good provider if i wanna sign up on something not using my real email but still wanna receive important stuff.

much preferred over a phone number which lots of apps and places have started to switch over too, much more inconvenient to get burner numbers

the issue with free ones is they are the bottom of the barrel you can get as voips and often can't really be used anywhere. they usually do fine for just random texting or calling though but signing up for anything gets you flagged
