Yeah I got into dishonored when a guy who was a fan of thief(which I loved and they also fucked up) recommeneded it to me.
The atmosphere and intrigue were great and although emily and her mother were painted as goddess dindus they at leasted canceled it out with other cunt female villains.
Move to the second game and emily is a strong independent wimmizs and corvo the main character is demoted to butler. It's like with movies. Alien movies are awesome, second one is very action based have a female lead and yet it's an awesome movie. Same with games, I really like Tomb Raider 1-2 and rebooted one(both legends from 2007 and newest one). On the other hand I install every few years Duke Nukem 3D with ultra-chad Duke. I quess you can feel characters in those games are something to be valued on their own, they are not just some figures to spread some fucked up message. I feel heavy decline in quality of games but it's mostly because there are much more casual gamers + it's a big business and passion and innovation is not a thing. I love games from late 90's to early 00' - my favourite ones are Fallout 1+2(although New Vegas was very good too), Jagged Alliance 2, Kotor 2, Deus fucking ex(from 2000, new one was good too, but Deus Ex 2000 is the shit), Baldurs Gate II, Max Payne etc. Those game had usually very good plot, yet didn't had to have references to our world politics, societal problems etc. I remember how with I think Dragon Age or Mass Effect Bioware introduced gay romances. I was never fan of romances in game to begin with, but hell gay romances? Da fuck is that shit. Also so many games have to be 'grim' and 'dark' but sometimes I just want to have fun like in Bulletstorm.
Also I hate how repetitive new games are, Assassin Creed games are joke for me. I played first one, it was just okay, I played AC IV Black Flag(so loved by many) and it was mediocre at best, but repetitive as hell. That's not for me, I rather install again Gothic II and just smoke some swamp weed and beat the shit out of people I don't like. Oh btw in Gothic I the only females in game were sex slaves, all NPC who had dialogoue lines were males :](even orcs had more lines than females)
