I don't underrate the importance of a healthy diet or think that it is unrelated, but issues from type 1 diabetes primarily come from insulin administration, not exactly what kind of food you're eating. For example, if I were eating sugary food but shooting the right amount of insulin, my blood sugar levels would be mostly stable (not that I would be completely healthy, of course, but I wouldn't be going blind from retinopathy); if I eat healthy but don't shoot insulin properly, I would still have complications related to t1d. My particular problem is sometimes I don't measure my blood sugar and count the carbs to shoot the right amount of insulin, sometimes skipping the shots completely, out of lazyness and carelessness, probably resulting from depression. I try and sometimes for weeks manage to stay within a healthy range, but when I don't, the damage could be permanent. What are you eating now?
