If you don't buy new games right away and wait for sales/drops, PC games are still a lot cheaper than consoles, especially if you use shady code resellers.

Some games are perfectly fine on their own but even better with mods. For example Stardew Valley or Satisfactory are both perfectly fine without mods, but there are a lot of QoL upgrades for Stardew Valley and for Satisfactory there is a lot of additional content so that playing both vanilla and modded is a different, but both nice, experience.
