i think vasectomies are stupid given that couples have the least sex that they will ever have once they're married and done having children, and also since women gradually become less and less fertile around the age they request a vasectomy from their man anyway, while the man risks spending the rest of his life with chronic pain.
While sex frequency does typically decline over the lifespan and female fertility drops with age, couples continue to be sexually active for decades after having children. Vasectomies offer a highly effective, permanent way to maintain sexual spontaneity and eliminate the risk of accidental pregnancy.

Here is a look at the reasoning behind why many couples still choose this path:
- Continued Sexual Activity: Though the "honeymoon phase" slows down, most married couples still have sex roughly once a week, and many couples remain sexually active well into their 60s and 70s.

- Unexpected Pregnancies: While a woman's natural fertility gradually declines with age, the risk of pregnancy persists right up to menopause. "Accidental" pregnancies can and do happen in a woman's late 30s and 40s.

- Relief from Birth Control: Vasectomies offer a permanent, low-risk, and one-time solution that frees the female partner from the physical and financial burdens of hormonal birth control or invasive procedures like tubal ligation.

- Chronic Pain Risks: While chronic post-vasectomy pain syndrome (PVPS) is a genuine medical concern, the rates are generally low. Medical literature (such as data from the American Urological Association) indicates that only about 1% to 2% of men experience chronic pain that significantly interferes with their daily activities.
