Didn't see it yet but this is what I gathered. The guy in the movie looks way better than the girl too kek. And she freaks out because he isn't chad.

The main guy and girl are equal in terms of looks in my opinion.

6.5/10
normie movie about how dating a sub 8 guy is basically rape

objectively true, its really hard to watch the movie and do this thing where they want you to think bear is some ugly nerd when his objectively better looking 90% of men and equivalent to nikki. i guess it got it right with hypergamy lol with guys having to use literal magic to get with their looks match.

She was fucking his friend before him who is objectively much uglier than him. They were trying to push the narrative that the main character didn’t get the girl because he wasn’t confident, which is BS.

That crappy movie alone has already grossed over 400 million at the box office, which shows just how decrepit the movie industry is these days.

This movie will only pave the way for more crap like this to be produced.

Height is not really a factor for women in real life, no one is going to care realistically unless she's a midget or giant. Placing height aside I'd say they're easily in the same looks range. I don't mean to defend a whore but you're underrating here.

I’m just glad an independent movie was able to be so successful. Tired of the slop Hollywood puts out these days

it was so good, i want a foid like nikki :feelsbadman:

I enjoyed it, feels fresh and organic; unlike your average hollywood slop. The gore was impressive and they were excellent at creating an uneasy atmosphere. There were times where it felt lame but the overall premise was cool and they managed to pull it off for the most part.

I think everyone's butthurt because Nikki despite being a monster and doing some horrible things wasn't all to blame because Bear made a poor choice that landed her in that position. I find it really interesting how they made it really hard to place the blame on anyone, doesn't follow your average antagonist vs protagonist tropes.

I think that's more of a subjective take. From my understanding she just wasn't interested in him like that, their relationship was very close (as she said he's like a brother) and hooking up would likely ruin that close bond they had, so she'd opt to hook up with someone she doesn't have close ties with because that relationship wasn't very important to begin with. I see though with my take there's a plot hole that would be she hooked up with Bears best friend which would also ruin her and Bear's close bond.

It would be nice if the movie had a bit longer scenes at the beginning with the group of friends to better understand the dynamic. It was a bit confusing but I don’t know if it was intentional.

Yea their friendship dynamic wasn't very well explained, you certainly don't get that Bear and Nikki's relationship is a close but platonic one within that first bar scene but perhaps that's because we were meant to have hope for Bear. I think the side friends dynamics could've been fleshed out a little more but then again they do that a bit more later on (not really with the side friend chick, everything with her felt dropped in there last minute)

no, its good bc the main character gets the foid he wants with magical abilities and its kinda TFR

Normie Jewish slop the guy isnt an incel

I liked it, the guy wasn't incel but was treated like one.

This is another feminist movie which tries to imply that men are not entitled to a woman's love and that they just need to be more confident and honest when confessing their love. The movie implies this by making bear use the magic one wish willow to force Nikki to love him instead of just confessing his love for her, and it backfires by turning Nikki into a psycho who ends up killing everyone around her which then makes Bear kill himself. Bear is pretty much made out to be the villain of the movie as he coerced Nikki into loving him without her consent, and normies love this movie because it shows Bear aka the male villain getting what he "deserves".

It's pretty obvious that the men who produced this movie have no clue of the real world, particularly what happens when sub5s like us try to confess our love to a woman, where we end up either being called a creep or have the cops called on us all because of our looks despite not doing anything wrong. The idea that being confident and honest is how you ascend only applies to chad. If I were Bear I would just use the one wish willow to make myself Jeremy Meeks then Nikki would love me unconditionally. Even if Nikki doesn't like what I did I would just pull some other hot girl since I'm Jeremy Meeks.

Other than that the acting is good, especially the actress for Nikki, which is probably another reason why it is so highly rated.

You wish for love but instead you get this retarded infantile narco, it's not like he actually wished for her to be obsessed just to be in love with him, in what world do lovers feed eachother dead cats.

I watched it while high and it was pretty scary imo, I enjoyed it though.

Thats normie bluepill isnt it, 'just be confident bro'

Retarded performative male shit. Feels like the screenwriter was trying to convince his female friend to let him hit, and decided to write a movie about bodily autonomy and consent so she'd think he's a good guy in the hopes he could sleep with her.

Also a shit horror movie so don't even bother. One jump scare kill death anyone could have seen a mile away. Mostly some bitch screaming and everyone acting like it's groundbreaking.

The movie is actually pretty good but retarded feminists are ruining the discourse surrounding it.

Barker wanted to make a creepy movie about a crazy girlfriend doing creepy things. But he made the man the undeniably bad guy to make the movie politically correct. It's that simple, yet nobody pointed this out. This politically correct cover is in conflict with the horror elements, to the detirement of the movie as a horror that would be meant to be creepy. Making Bear a more ambiguous character would have made for a much better film, but the audiences wouldn't have taken it too well in those times...

It feels like the movie originally wanted to be an exaggeration of the BPD girlfriend experience to the point it's horror. Basically the same thing that Shyamalan's The Visit did with demented old people. The only difference is that The Visit had no trouble being just that, while Obsession wanted to add this flipping of the script and make the guy the villain and the girl the victim, but the result is that the themes are in contrast with the horror.

The opposite is for example Get Out where you're supposed to be scared for the "possessed" guy. Again, there the themes are not in contrast with the scares of the movies. In Obsession you don't know if you should be creeped out for Bear or for Nikki, if it wants to be The Visit or Get Out, in the end it's neither and the film is only creepy because of the scenes taken in isolation. As another kind of movie it would've worked maybe, but as a horror it fails.

Crazy that no one caught on this. If I was a youtuber I would make a review talking about this, because come on. The concept and acting were good and could have made for a decent horror film for the men who could relate to it (aka not us). But as it is, they have to ignore the plot for the horror to work.

Can't blame him too much though, his strategy worked and the movie would have probably been cancelled had it implied that women have any accountability at all. If you look at the online discourse, all the men are talking about how creepy and relatable it is, while the women are content to point out in return that "actually the man was the real villain". It worked as planned. It's such a shame though that political correctness and playing it safe has to ruin movies with potential.

I haven't watched it, but I can tell that it's overrated slop
Horror fans are the redditors of genre enjoyers. They'll swallow up any slop with jumpscares and a "deep" political message.
