I would argue that it is quite literally impossible. There are so many things that can be traced back to you that getting away with murder—at least, in the sense that 'serial killers' are known for—is impossible now-a-days. The only way to get away with it is to be a part of an area where the murder rate is already obscenely high because of gang violence.

Yeah, that's true. The number of traces that you leave behind makes it quite unfeasible to be a serial killer without being identified, which is why the age of traditional serial killers is, for the most part, over.
