Opinion on psychiatry (poll)

Psychiatry seems to be the most dishonest, destructive force in modern countries. Antidepressants increase the rate of suicide by 2x more than placebo groups, antipsychotics cause heart problems, and most psych drugs seem to decrease lifespan. Almost all of them worsen anhedonia, which makes taking them pointless. Additionally, they are aware their drugs do not work well (if at all), but continue to peddle them.

But what about you, what are your thoughts?

Why isn't there a middle ground answer man?
I don't wish to abolish psychiatry completely, but this is our present reality:

In the end, I think it's a worthwhile subject, but it needs serious reform, it should be favouring study and actual help over scams and greed

Most of it is a huge scam.
Sigmund Freud literally hynotized his patients to donate their properties to his fraud organization and openly brag about it.

Psychology is a non-exact science. It gives many insights, but it's up to individual humans to decide how to use that information.

In the USA psychiatry is just an SSRI/benzo/anti-psychotic prescribing conveyer-belt. Trauma-centered models of mental distress, psychoanalysis etc are barely part of the psychiatric picture here. But there are psychologists (who cannot prescribe psychiatric meds and are not referred to as psychiatrists here.)

Anyways, I think it depends on the person who gets the treatment and also on the person treating you and what illness you have. If you don't let anyone in, then you can't have proper treatment

In my country getting pills like that is really strict, I think the easiest you can get is anti depressants, but anything further than that you need multiple sessions and someone examining you, at least that's how it was at my doctor (I live in Germany)
