LDAR One time friends group

When I try to join a group of people who are going out together, after the first real-life conversation, they ignore me on messenger or say they're no longer going out.

Has anyone else had this problem? Or have you been rejected at the "can I go with you?" stage?

I don't even get the "can I go with you" stage. So I couldn't tell you, and the rare occasion I do its out of politeness or convenience, perhaps everyone else flaked on them and I was the only one available. But they really don't want me there.
