I do think that kids now will get nostalgic about how things are today when they're older.

If you have a nice family life, that makes things meaningful. Like for example an iPad or Switch might remind you of games you used to play with your siblings, or your parents using the iPad, or whatever.

These things are strange because it's like they become placeholders for times in the past because they were specifically of that time.
