It is because it's women, though. See, you've got to remember that men have much more varied tastes, and women on the whole are very much alike. So, when you have women that are different from the pack, such as possessing autism, for example, that sets them apart from a mass of women you could otherwise not really tell apart, due to them all being cookie cutter copies of each other. So men, who seek variance and want someone special and unique to themselves, will seek out literally anything that a women could possess that's different from any other, like autism, and latch onto it, even fetishize it.
