I rember when I was growing up in the late 2000s everybody was part of some subculture. music was a big part of people's identity. they dressed according to it. talked about it. formed friendships over it.
nowadays it's nothing new. everybody is a tiktok/instagram normie. music is abundant and free. it's no longer exciting. when I'm outside I no longer see metalheads, rockers, goths, scenes, hiphopers, ravers, punks, emos, hipsters, clubbers. I just see normies. it's probably cringe atp to care about music. tryhard. it used to be a form of expression. now it's just some beats under a tiktok
not that I'm lamenting it too much.
