Never found their anime appealing personally. It seems too brain dead and clean. I will watch moe shit if it has fan service.

Frankly I found it funny their building burned down.

The only things I've watched from them are Lucky Star and Nichijou, but I am planning to watch K-on and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya at some point.

wasn't there a guy who burned them down after some supposed plagiarism?

Yes the hero that burned the building down and some animators got killed because Japanese businesses are usually stacked to the brim with paper, but it didn’t stop them just slowed production down.

Tdrl it was a schizo otaku who said his anime idea was stolen by them and he torched the building. I think he got death penalty.

ironically it was also some scenes from K-on! that caused him to burn it down :lul:

good, anime is for pedos anyway

everyone watched k-on in 2009 because they wanted to fuck the characters. simple as.

✨AI Overview

The query refers to the 2019 Kyoto Animation arson attack, a tragic event in which the perpetrator, Shinji Aoba, set fire to the Studio 1 building, killing 36 people.
The perpetrator was not an "otaku" in the general fan sense, but an individual with mental health issues who held a deep-seated, one-sided belief that the studio had stolen a novel he submitted to them. The motives were:
  • Perceived Plagiarism: Aoba was convinced Kyoto Animation (which produced the anime series K-On! and many others) had plagiarized his work. He had submitted a novel to a contest held by the studio, which it rejected in the first round of judging. He claimed a scene in one of their later anime mirrored an idea from his submission.
