For that is what African-American culture is, an arbitrary value desired by women (despite from the benefit of Britsh Broadcasting Company) due to the status it brings, thus it is self sustaining; if you do not follow it you will be ostracised from support groups and potential partners. Men, for the most part as we are much more complex, and as might be expected, only engage in it to impress and court women or gain status and impress friends. A culture with no deeper tenets than bling and violence (which women also are attracted to).
