Anime is supposed to be the ideal interpretation of reality, as opposed to the clown world we live in. But honestly, it's getting harder for me to fully indulge in this medium recently, because my mind simply has an issue with tolerating any kind of media, which contains romantic tropes. Too much suifuel. Maybe it's because I'm so far on the specturm, but I can't see a differnce between how any form of ""degeneracy"" e.g. anime or ASMR or w/e is low status on here and how incels are low status in society in general.
Same enforcement through shaming mechanics,
same aversion to be associated with something you know you will be judged for by your peers,
same types of people going along even though they themselfs secretly are part of the group being ridiculed,
same wrangling over the local hierachy motivating much of it
mixed with some basic disgust reaction.
