nia under 7 and haibane are both Yoshitoshi ABe's stuff, might interest you.
though imho Haibane Renmei is peak, in terms of atmosphere and mood.
its OST is the best out of any anime I've watched, and i've seen a few.

it is quite poorly made at times with a bit of a goofy plot, an anime with a similar premise could be my #1 favorite though
