When I was physically punished for disobeying rules as a child (oftentimes I was simply punished for pointing out hypocrisy which was "disrespectful" or questioning the dogma) didn't think to myself "wow I'm a bad person. I need to do better" I thought how pathetic it was that adults needed to employ physical force whenever their ideas were threatened. How pathetic they couldn't even defend their ideologies. Even as a child I had no respect for authority because I saw it as nothing more than common thugs with sticks, whacking anyone who pointed flaws on the head. I still see it the same now.

I would always win arguments against my parents but they threaten to take something from me or worse. They are low iq and sounds like yours are too.
