I basically work 45+ hours a week most of the time.
I wageslave (only slightly above minimum wage) for hours and he still steals from me. Mind you, his business rakes in 100K+ monthly.
I'm owed an extra $1706 from the past year.

Not sure how to bring it up to him. Any ideas?

If he doesn’t get paid, he can sue the piss out of his boss and get a lot more than $1000. Lawsuits about this kind of thing end up costing a lot of money. I know a guy who worked at a restaurant, him and two other guys sued for not getting their fare share of tips and they won over 2 million dollars.

The law is on your side but you're kinda stupid for even letting your overtime stack up like that lol, tbh you should just STFU and take it on the chin and start demanding your overtime from this point forward

The amount looks like a lot now, but if you had brought it up after the 2nd overtime it would have been like $100, and you could have more easily gotten him to pay that, if an employee just came up to me and said - "yeah you owe me like $1000" even if I pay them, I'm going to find a way to fire and replace them soon after, because even though it isn't mallicious on your part, it may feel like that to him, like some kind of slime ball loan shark kind of shit, pretending like you don't know the tab is running up and then asking for your money when it gets really high, like creating a false sense of ease on purpose (you obviously aren't doing that, but someone could take it that way)

You seem like the kind of person to be timid and give your manager the false idea that you were just working overtime for free to "help out", he may very well have thought that, or he thought you weren't aware and could steal money from you, which is your fault too, he may have been pocketing the money or using the extra cash to make other miscellaneous work related purchases

So after you present this:
He's either in the red for managerial funds as he now has to pay you what he didn't plan on paying
Or he will see you as a threat because he's been pocketing the money and can risk losing his job (so he'll try to get rid of you)

If we translated this scenario to the streets your manager would have killed you, if you kept supplying a drug dealer and their tab makes it to 6 figures they'd much rather kill you and get a new supplier than pay you that amount, but if you had presented the notice when what was owed "looks small" you'd have gotten your money
