I write as a hobby (not in English) and obviously some of my characters and protagonists are women. The thing is when I give them some positive traits; I realize that it looks stranger than fiction. Stuff like sentient robots, supernatural creatures and aliens appear to be more realistic than modern women with devotion, determination, inner struggle, and self-awareness. It seems like it is not a big deal because fiction is fiction and we have tons of cool female characters from cardboard anime harem waifubaits to weaponized “final girls” such as Sarah Connor and Ellen Ripley.
However, since I know the importance of mimesis and catharsis, when I trying to write some lifelike moments and slice of life parts, it strikes me. Lies, all lies. My carefully crafted artificial characters speak on my behalf. I realize that only so called unicorn women can truly behave like that, can say that, can have such goals… I bet femoid readers will not be able to associate themselves with my heroes. Even my villains are probably too good and reasonable for them.
So I want to know your opinion on this topic.
Is it just my incel mindset and I worry about stupuid unnecessary things? Should I even care about accurate depiction of reality or just go full Natasha Rostova if I want to? Does idealistic depiction of modern women in art harm healthy worldview and one should always highlight that thots are bad? Maybe, on the contrary, you need to depict women as unrealistic, cute, smart and even redpilled to shift perception of society for the better? What do you think?
