MAN United’s £30,000-a-week wonder boy Adnan Januzaj took a student on a first
date — to a budget Nando’s diner.
He spent £18 on a spicy chicken meal with Melissa McKenzie — after SHE
paid a fiver for parking.
The 18-year-old winger got her to pick him up from a street corner in
Manchester because he can’t drive here.
And he turned up in jogging bottoms and red trainers after his mum dropped him
off.
Melissa said: “I’ve never met anyone so stingy in my life.”
Afterwards, they went to a £60, three-star hotel — where Adnan told of his
love of hair wax and how his mum tweezers his eyebrows. They watched The X
Factor on telly until he begged a lift home at 9pm.
Melissa, 25, of Liverpool, added: “I was so excited for the date. We met on a
social network site and I got all dressed up and even got my make-up done —
costing me £30. I expected him to come to me in a flashy car, but I ended up
driving him about in my old blue Fiesta and I was left to pay and display.
“Then he said he was taking me to Nando’s — my face fell.
“I usually go there for a quick bite to eat with my mates. I didn’t expect
to be going there on a date with a Man United footballer, especially in my
dress and heels.”
The Belgian star sent the childcare student a text saying he loved her an hour
after she took him home to Sale, Gtr Manchester, where he lives with his
parents.
The pair talked by phone and exchanged flirty messages in the next few weeks
and Melissa agreed to see him again. But she got tired of being stood up —
and the last straw came when he refused to pay for a £40 taxi to bring her
to Manchester.
Melissa, who has a new boyfriend after seeing Adnan last autumn, said: “I just
feel a bloke on a normal wage would have treated me better than him.”
A United spokesman said last night: “We don’t comment on players’ private
lives.”
Today the story was trending on Twitter with fans praising the footballer’s
down-to-earth choice of venue.
Nando’s bosses also saw our story — and sent a £50 voucher to Old Trafford.
The restaurant chain tweeted: “Hey Adnan, the second date’s on us. (P.S. Maybe
ditch the trackies?)”
It’s peri-peri popular
JANUZAJ is not the only Red who loves a Nando — David Beckham is a fan as
well.
The multi-millionaire is rumoured to have a black card, entitling him and five
friends to free meals for life.
Gareth Bale was seen scoffing peri peri chicken in Cardiff before his
£85million move from Spurs to Real Madrid.
United’s Danny Welbeck and Rio Ferdinand eat there, too. And Arsenal’s Jack
Wilshere tweeted: “Celebrating the win with a Nandos! #deeceeeent.”
