Spanish colonization was brutal to the indigenous tribes being colonized. For the sake of the crown, foreign lands were plundered and exploited. European colonization killed about 50million+ as pre-colonization populations fell by 90%. What killed these indigenous peoples after European arrival were lack of immunity to foreign diseases, war, slavery and famine.
