Moral variation shows that morality is socially constructed, not that it does not exist. My objection was directed at the claim that morality does not exist at all, which is a stronger and different claim than saying moral systems vary across societies.

Morality is still a man-made term. Does it exist? It all depends on how you define it and how you explain it

In my view, morality exists as an emergent social system: groups develop norms because they stabilize cooperation, reduce internal conflict, and make collective survival possible.

Morality is a societal construct that perpetually changes. What is yesterday's "good" is often tomorrow's "evil" and vice versa.

In the 60s, having sexual relation with a 14 year-old was considered moral. Not anymore.

10 years ago, using the word "gay" as an insult was considered moral. Not anymore.

Even now, what is and is not considered moral varies from culture to culture.

Why should we pay any heed to this? Instead, we should simply do whatever benefits us at the moment.

Because it would effect me negatively. That doesnt make it morally wrong, I can still feel emptions like empathy, happiness, sadness etc.
