Tax Returns come next month, and it’s pretty decent FWIW. I’m not a fan of desktops or monitors in a set place and like the portability of a Gaming Laptop with a nice screen, and carrying it all over the house with me and playing games with the volume on full blast when nobody’s home (probably a extra special type of autism) despite it needing to be plugged in 24/7 and a desktop being an objectively better investment; But I do indeed miss my Xbox Series S I had some years back.

Had a bunch of friends that I virtually abandoned that I feel bad about; especially this Halo MCC group I was a diehard in that’s still very much active, and an Xbox would be a special case scenario where I wouldn’t mind a set place to have to play games at. But the idea of buying a console in 2026 vs. a Computer system is a no-brainer to me because of the sheer freedom of modding alone.

Should I remain endowed to my Xboxbros and get another Xbox after years of neglect, or should I pitch into a Gaming Laptop?

Gaming laptop. Gaming on PC is a far better experience. You get access to much more content and customisability compared to any console. I couldn't imagine going back to a console after having bought my PC.

Also, I'd probably consider buying a desktop over a laptop if I were you. All laptops I've had have quickly degraded/had components die over the span of a few years and it's very difficult to upgrade or replace components. The portability benefit of a gaming laptop is severely diminished by the fact that it will need to be plugged in constantly (the batteries in gaming laptops have a tiny lifespan) and also because a laptop's built in screen/keyboard/trackpad are vastly inferior to dedicated peripheral devices (so you'll either have to set up a bunch of peripherals whenever you move around the house, or deal with having to use the shitty built in display, keyboard and trackpad).
